한국교통자산운용(KOTAM)이 국내 5개 기관투자자로부터 약 2000억원(1억8500만달러)를 받아 블랙록(BlackRock)이 운용하는 신재생에너지 재간접펀드에 투자한다고 22일 밝혔다.

한국교통자산운용이 투자하는 상품은 GRP(Global Renewable Power) 3호 펀드로 신재생 에너지 분야에선 국내 최대 규모의 투자다. 약 5조 3000억원(48억달러) 규모로 운용되는데 미국, 유럽, 아시아 지역의 태양광·풍력 등 신재생 에너지 자산에 투자한다. 이 펀드는 국제연합(UN)의 지속발전 목표를 바탕으로 한 국제 비영리협회인 럭스플래그상을 수상하기도 했다. 투자처가 추후에 정해지는 블라인드 펀드로 전세계 100개 이상 기관 투자자로부터 자금을 출자받을 예정이다.

한국교통자산운용 관계자는 "이번 재간접펀드에 출자한 기관투자자들은 올해가 파리협정에 따른 신 기후체제가 시작되는 에너지 대전환의 원년이 될 것으로 보고 있다"면서 "이에 따라 선제적으로 신재생에너지 펀드에 투자한 것"이라고 밝혔다.

한국교통자산운용은 선박과 항공기 등 특별자산 펀드를 주로 운용해 왔다. 지난해 인프라투자팀을 신설해 미화 8억달러(약 8935억원) 규모의 인프라펀드를 조성했다.

Korea Transportation Management (KOTAM) raises 200 billion won for BlackRock fund

Korea Transportation Asset Management (KOTAM) announced on the 22nd that it received about 200 billion won ($185 million) from five domestic institutional investors to be invested in a renewable energy fund managed by BlackRock.

The product that KOTAM invests is the Global Renewable Power Fund III (GRP III) , which is the largest investment in the new and renewable energy sector in Korea. Securing a 5.3 trillion won ($4.8 billion) final close worldwide, the GRP III invests in new and renewable energy assets such as solar power and wind power in the US, Europe, and Asia. The GRP III has also won the Lux Flag Award, an international non-profit association with its mission based on the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals. As a blind fund whose investment destination will be decided in the future it has received commitments in advance from more than 100 institutional investors around the world.

An official from KOTAM said, "Institutional investors who have invested in this fund are expecting this year will be the first year of the energy transformation in which the new climate system under the Paris Agreement begins." The official added “This investment is the preemptive movement reflecting the sentiment of the institutional investors as regards energy transformation.”

KOTAM has focused on special asset funds such as ships and aircraft. Last year, after establishing an infrastructure investment team, it successfully created an infrastructure fund worth US$800 million (approximately 8935 billion won).
